Substrate dam strawberries single-row

For the highest fruit quality and the best picking performance. Also well suited to growing areas with low soil fertility.

Sketch: Substrate dam strawberries single-row

Facts

  • 8,300 lm (running metres) per hectare
  • Same row spacing, same track widths, same machines as the single-row topsoil dam
  • 18 litres of substrate per metre

Benefits

  • No straw needed
  • No herbicide use
  • Clearly earlier harvest, by approx. 10 to 14 days, compared with table-top cultivation in the tunnel
  • Best picking performance and fruit quality
  • Can be combined with the Beekenkamp Erdbeerbak

Frequently asked questions

Which areas is the single-row substrate dam suitable for?
It is well suited to growing areas with low soil fertility, because the plants grow in the added substrate.
Why does the fruit hang at the sides with the single-row dam?
The dam is planted in a single row: no fruit lies on the substrate, it hangs down to the side. This allows ideal picking.
What are the key figures of the single-row substrate dam?
Row spacing 1.20 m, 8,300 running metres (lm) per hectare and 18 litres of substrate per metre.
Which tractor is needed?
We use a tractor with a track width of 2.40 m that is specially adapted to this cultivation system. This allows it to drive over two dams at the same time. The dams are formed with a four-row substrate dam machine (single dam).
What should be considered regarding soil moisture and lime?
The substrate dam requires significantly more soil moisture than the topsoil dam. Before the dams are formed, we recommend 25 to 30 t/ha of lime.
How can I use the system?
We form the dams as a contract service directly on your farm – without your own machine capital and also plannable for single seasons. We are happy to advise you on buying our machines. Call us or write to us.
